CC1350: communication between Two CC 1350 launchpad

Do you use the Launchpads without any modifications? If that is the case the PCB antenna on the LP is used.

I assume you are using these examples unmodified: dev.ti.com/.../

Check that the frequency is set correctly: dev.ti.com/.../README.html

Since 10 feet is very short it sounds like you:
- Don't use an antenna
- The switch selecting between sub 1 GHz and 2.4 GHz on the LP is not set correctly.
- The example uses wrong frequency and the antenna has poor efficiency no this frequency.

thanks for the quick reply ,i am using easy link rx and tx code from the resource explorer . i am not uisng antenna for the communication , because board have an antenna. may be i am doing some mistake with rf switch selection. but in that example i have'nt seen any rf switch configuration.
if you know how to configure it. then please tell mee.

From which version of the SDK are you using the examples?

In the newest SDK (2.20) the switch is set in CC1350_LAUNCHXL_fxns.c

Do you have something close to the antenna on the launchpad that could cause the antenna to be poor?

hi ,i am using the sdk 2.20 version and here in my code i have set pin high for the sub ghz communication but stiil the result is same .
so please tell me how i can increase the range between tx and rx . i am not using antenna till. is there any impact on range if i am not using ant.


please guide me.

If you don’t use antenna, I believe the range of TX/RX would be poor. Why don’t you use antenna?

YK: In this context it seems that no antenna means no external antenna but the PCB antenna is used.

Nilesh: To set the switch correct,

CC1350_SW_PWR  = '1' and DIO1_RF_SW = '1'

SmartRF Studio sets the control signals automatically. Have you tested with Studio?

If you use the Launchpads unmodified and use the default setting in SmartRF Studio, do you see a difference in range? 

hi, how i set the sub 1 ghz frequency in my code ,i am using cc1350 launchpad device and using easylink tx and rx example code.
please tell me, how i set it.

hello sir how i set it. means in easy link example there is driver callback function. this function include all the setting about RF switching. but how i set it into my easylink Tx example. i want just check the communication distance range. i have also connected the antenna on the Tx and Rx but how will i know my Rf sub 1Ghz iw working or switch is enable or not.

please guide me regarding this issue.

If you use the Easylink examples for CC1350 launchpad the switch is set in the code.

ok but after setting the switch why it gives us short range between TX and Rx. it is less than 10 ft. i don't know why?

Have you performed the range test with SmartRF Studio?

i still facing the range issue actually i have checked the range on smartrf studio by connecting Rx and TX with different laptop . actually i got around 150 ft range. but when i generate code means whatever the file generated with that setting .
and i insert that file into easy link TX and RX example .

i have connected the one board with smartrf studio that is receiver and dump the code transmitter code into TX board and check the string on on smartrf studio terminal which i have written in the txpacket but i got nothing on the smartrf studio termonal. i have done all the setting on the smartrf studio for the receiver side.

please tell me what i have to do checking the more range using sub1 Ghz with 433 mhz frequency between TX and Rx .

simpleLink Dual band cc1350-4 this launchpad i am using

The CC1350-4 LP has a fairly poor antenna and range testing should not be used with the PCB antenna. For range testing use an external antenna connected to the SMA connector.

i am using easy link tx code and if i set the 10 db tx power at the return status why i am getting the -10 db tx power please tell me. because it is less then 12 db still i get the new value -10 db.

Do you mean the measured output power is -10 dBm? If that is the case, how is it measured?
