Cortex_M4_0: Error connecting to the target

Hi,

   Have you confirmed if you have installed the USB drivers? You should be able to see your connections at device manager if all drivers have been installed for your CC3200 launchpad.

From my observation everything seems correct? I did do the driver install process.

Just in case, make sure you don't have other TI launchpads connected as that may cause conflicts with cc3200.

Hello Kel, 

As I do not have an Apple or Android phone I can not start with project zero. I have therefore chosen to try use the getting started guide, but as I can not load anything onto the CC3200 or even get CCS to see it is infact connected I am stuck.

   Possible that the CC3200 launchpad is faulty. Just wait for a TI Engineer to help you out.

I received the dev kit from our supplier so Im not sure what they did with it in terms of the demo application.

But I do pick its wifi up on the phone.

Sorry for delayed response on this thread.

I suspect the issue with CCS target configuration file. Can you confirm 2 points

1) CC3200 Device Support Package version. You can find the version in Help->About Code Composer Studio->Installation Details

If version  1.0.0.4, Please use the attached target configuration file.

Please let us know if it solves the problem. 

mine is 1.0.0.4

Did you import the new(attached) Target configuration and set it to default?

Deleted old one,  

Imported new one. 

Set as default. 

Build and run. 

Then I received same error message.  I am using Windows 8.1 64bit of that's a potential error. 

@Dylan,

    Since you have installed the drivers properly at your Windows 8.1 PC, possible that other factors contribute to your problem. I suggest you try to make your CC3200 launchpad to another PC.

    I believe that these CC3200 launchpad was tested before shipping out. But, in my experience in PCB boards, failure do happen after passing all tests. But, upon seeing the CC3200 launchpad, it is just a simple design and you can easily spot if there is some problem with any components on the board.

    If I were in your situation, I would do anything I can to make it work, even the most simplest effort. So I suggest that you also do a visual inspection of the board and see if you can see any anomalies and also remove and place back the jumpers, just to make sure that it does perform as jumper between two pins. Maybe rare event, but dust, dirt, soldering paste could have settled on those pins causing problems.

Hey Kaushal, 

I tried your steps and so far it has resolved the issue. My next issue is the getting started documentation talks about the wlan_station demo but there is no is no explanation of what the output should be or even what the demo should really do.

   Good to know that you have already made your CC3200 Launchpad to work with Kaushal's solution.

   Better read also about wlan_station example program documentation at the docs folders.

I have looked there in both the 0.5.2 and the 1.0.0 and there is no documentation for this demo, either that or I am looking in the wrong location.

I looked at that but I guess with out reading properly I didn't know it was the correct document. The thing that threw me off was the terminal. My terminal looks completely different.

    I will get back to you later. In the meanwhile search this forum regarding wlan_station to get some idea what others have encountered problem trying to make it work.

   Are you sure at CCS that you are using wlan_station?

Hi Lewis,

Looks like SOP2 jumper(J15) is not connected as snapshot you have pasted is of Out of box (oob) application (i.e. OOB is flashed on device and it's booting up from sFlash). Please connect SOP2 jumper if you are running wlan_sta or other example from IDE (debug mode).

         I agree with Jitendra. Possible that you have not placed the jumper at SOP2. That was mentioned at the Getting Started Guide.

         "The jumpers on the CC3200-LAUNCHXL should be connected as shown in Figure 1. It may be necessaryto move a jumper from P58-VCC to SOP2."

Even i was facing the same issue when i switched from Energia to CCS v6.1 for programming the CC3200 LP. 

The "error connecting to target " can be resolved by replacing the jumpers back on J8 on the board.

Hi,

I was experimenting the same problem. I tried to start the Tera software once the debug session was launched. At this moment you can start debugging and the "CC3200 WLAN STATION Application" information appears on the Tera Term window.

If you have Tera Term or any terminal program connected to the board, disconnect Tera Term first before starting a debug session. After program loading then reconnect Tera Term.
