WiFi Connection Robustness

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3200, CC3200SDK

I am working on a project that uses the CC3200 and tirtos_simplelink_2_01_00_03. We are having quite a few issues with making and maintaining connection. Right now we are mostly using AP mode. When the device boots up it won't always display in the list of available wireless networks. When it does show up, if we do not connect to it, it will sometimes disappear and the device has to be rebooted. Once connected we have been fighting with maintaining a quality connection without dropped out. The device is only a few feet away from the wireless adapter trying to connect. Is this version of SimpleLink outdated, and would newer versions help with connection robustness? This device will eventually be used in full production. Is SimpleLink ready for production use?

  • Hi Brayden,

The most recent software versions are servicepack v1.0.1.11-2.8.00 and CC3200 SDK v1.3 which uses TI-RTOS v2.16.01.14, available for download here: http://www.ti.com/tool/cc3200sdk

You say you're testing AP mode, but what you are describing (searching available wireless networks and connecting to one) sounds like station mode. Please start with an existing example framework such as Getting Started with WLAN AP or WLAN Station. If you are seeing errors or failures, please post them to the forum so we can assist with debugging.

    Best regards,
    Sarah
