CC3200: CC3200's NWP auto connection policy behaviour

Part Number: CC3200

Hi,

I have a client who asks some questions about NWP:

1. What is the algorithm of NWP re-trying to connect to the APs stored in profiles, when all of them are out of reach?

2. How often does it perform a WiFi scan?

3. Is there any NWP's WiFi radio transmission/emission during this process?

Thanks,

Oleg

  • Hi Oleg,

    1. The device will continue to periodically scan for APs.
    2. The periodicity of scanning varies, but it is a small amount of time between each scan
    3. Yes it is an active scan so it will send probe requests

    4. If you want to prevent wasting power when it has been a long time and no connection, you can turn off the NWP (sl_Stop, and maybe even hibernate) for a while and try again later.

  • Hi made4engineering,

    Thanks for your answer.

What I would be interested in knowing is, if the NWP periodically scans, how is the exact behavior? Meaning, I've observed that, when an AP comes in sight e. g.30 seconds after startup the NWP connects to it. But if the AP comes in sight after e. g. 5 Minutes, the NWP would not connect to it.

    Oleg
