WL1837MOD: scanning wifi may return nothing

Part Number: WL1837MOD
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WL1837

I am working on configuration WIFI gateway on boards with wl1837mod and embedded Linux,

during test of the system,  occasionally scanning WIFI may get nothing return by using the command "iw wlan0 scan" or "scan wifi" in connmanctl.

these cases seam more easy to happen after the boards have been power on over night or several days,

usually once this problem happen, to reboot the system by command can not recover the WIFI scanning function, but unplug power for a while, then plug the power again, scanning wifi may return SSID list normally.

I have not got professional equipment to measure the temperature on the surface of the wl1837mod chip, just use hand to feel the temperature on the surface, and to estimate the temperature is in about 40 ~ 50 Celsius degree when the problem happen.

so my question is if the wl1837mod need to be cool down to a limited temperature to keep it work normally.

  • I've seen zero scan results on a WL1837 device when the wl18xx-conf.bin file was not correct for the wl1837. Run the configure-device.sh script to create a good binary config file for wl1837mod. This is required to correctly configure the additional RF switch on the WL1837mod.
