Hi,

I am using Z-Stack_Mesh_1.0.0

In a coordinator software, is there a way of getting a notification when a device association is successful or fails ?

Hi,
To reconfigure my system that has a coordinator and a number of routers , with the routers powered down I am calling
zgWriteStartupOptions(ZG_STARTUP_SET,ZCD_STARTOPT_DEFAULT_NETWORK_STATE);
SystemResetSoft();
in the coordinator to reset all associated devices.

After the coordinator restarts, I am powering up the routers and using the call
zgWriteStartupOptions(ZG_STARTUP_SET,ZCD_STARTOPT_DEFAULT_NETWORK_STATE);
SystemResetSoft();
in the routers to get them to reconnect to the coordinator.

However, using the sniffing tool, I am finding the router sends and association request which is acknowledged by the coordinator as being successful but the association does not progress past that and is not stored in memory
If i look at the AssociatedDevList in the coordinator , it is empty.
Every so often, the association will work and the network is formed and works
Any advice on what is going wrong would be appreciated

When device joins Zigbee network, it would trigger ZDO_STATE_CHANGE event and you can handle it in zclxxx_event_loop. Can you attach sniffer log for your issue?

Are you trying to perform a factory new reset on your devices or just to restart and join them to the old network?

Hi,

Sorry for the delayed reply -

The system os not a new factory reset - its a development system that is continually being reprogrammed.

I am using

zgWriteStartupOptions(ZG_STARTUP_SET,ZCD_STARTOPT_DEFAULT_NETWORK_STATE);
SystemResetSoft();

though I have tried

zgWriteStartupOptions(ZG_STARTUP_SET, ZCD_STARTOPT_DEFAULT_NETWORK_STATE | ZCD_STARTOPT_DEFAULT_CONFIG_STATE);

on the coordinator and routers to clear the allocation table and reset the network.

The PAN ID = -DZDAPP_CONFIG_PAN_ID=0xFFFF and the NWK_MAX_DEVICE_LIST 25

There are no End Devices in the system

For some reason, Routers are repeatedly have a successful device association but they dont actually seem to join the network

I have attached a Ubilogix and text dump

Do you mean device with MAC address B6:00:00:00:21:B3:80:01 has association problem?

Dear Sir,
Yes - I think in the log it has a successful association 3 times but does not join the network
I have that with the one that logged but sometimes I cannot get a number devices to join a network.

Hi ,
The module itself is from Telit ZE51 which has a CC2530 - the code is from IAR embedded workbench and Zstack

The MAC address doesn't look like a device from TI. The MAC address of TI devices should be like 00:12:4B:... which you can see on association response in your Ubiqua log. Anyway, I see your device do MAC ack to association which mean the device receives association response and I think the problem is on device.

Hi, I believe that Telit get their CC2530 devices made by TI with their own range of MAC address so that the Telit propriety software will not run on CC2530's that are not in Zelit Modules. The Telit software checks the MAC address is in their range before it will run.

When you say the problem is "In the device" do you mean hardware or software?
The modules come packaged so I am not modifying them except to connect power and antenna

Try to set breakpoint in ZDO_STATE_CHANGE_EVT in ZDApp.c to check what happens after association response is sent to end device.

How do you trigger the discovery of the network?

Seems like your device is looping and probably reset itself.

Hi,

The network we have set up has a Coordinator and a number of routers.

What we are finding is that when the network is established, some routers are associated with other routers and not directly associated to the coordinator - ie they do not show up in the association table of the coordinator.

So ZC has ZR1 in its association table and ZR1 has ZR2 in its association table and the network is formed

If both ZR1 and ZR2 are powered down and the ZR2 is powered up. It will look for ZR1 on the network which is not there but will not reconnect to the ZC to reform the network.

Is there a way to get around this and reform the network when ZR1 is missing or powered down

When you turn on ZR2 and ZR1 is not there, ZR2 and ZC should find each other if there is a message need to be delivered in between. Unless ZR2 is out of radio coverage of ZC, Zigbee mesh network should be self-healing. If you have problem to see this work, it's better to use Ubiqua Packet Analyzer to check it.

I have attached a captured file showing that after ZR2 is powered up it does not connect to the ZC until after ZR1 is repowered

I can see ZR2 does route request but it doesn't get any route response. How far is it in between ZC and your ZR2? Is ZR2 under radio coverage of ZC?

I suspect there is something wrong in Z-Stack Mesh 1.0.0. I suggest you can test this on latest Z-Stack 3.0 to see if there is similar issue.

I have download Zstack 3.0 but I get a number of linker errors indicating that the linker cannot find bdb_ externals.

But I cannot locate where they are stored - is there another library that has to be included?

Hi,

I have downloaded the Z-Stack 3.0 and complied it but I had to delete most of my zigbee project as Z-Stack 3.0 seems to use significantly more XData memory than the stack I am using

Would that be correct

XDATA memory is RAM, and there is a small increase between ZHA 1.2.2a and Z3.0. Looks like between 200-800 bytes increase between the out-of-box applications with no changes. There is a bigger increase in flash size though, and this is due to all of the new features added to Z3.0.
