I have started working on CC2538EMK. I have SmartRF06 Evaluation board kit too. I have checked LED blinking program on SmartRF06. Now I want to use CC2538EM as standalone device and send some data wirelessly to the CC2538EM mounted on SmartRF06 EBK. What do I need to do to work that out? Even a little bit of help is also appreciated. Thank you!

Do you try examples in Z-Stack?

yes, I tried examples in Z-stack. I dumped samplelight program in both cc2538em using IAR and smartrf06 kit. I have only one smartrf06 that's why I want to use other cc2538em as standalone. It is not even detecting when I'm connecting cc2538em with USB.

If you only have one SmartRF06, I suggest you to run ZNP on another CC2538EM and connect to ZTOOL to act as coordinator.

I have built ZNP hex file in Z-Stack 3.0 and download it to my CC2538rm SmartRF06 but I still can't connect it to ZTool. How can I connect SmartRF06 to my PC for using ZTool?(No device found)

Also can you please elaborate a little bit more or give some reference where I can get that information.

After you download ZNP to CC2538EM using SmartRF06, you should connect USB cable between desktop and CC2538EM directly like the following screen shot. And, you have to put jumper to the position in screen shot. Then, you can use ZTool to connect to CC2538EM using 38400 as baud rate.

Thanks for the support.
I'm able to connect cc2538em independently through USB to the computer.
There are two configurations ZNP and ZNP SBL. I'm working with ZNP, though I don't know the difference between them. Yet I have configure other CC2538EM +Smartrf06 as Sample light end device but couldn't connect it to the Network.
Do I have to configure ZNP CC2538EM using Ztool by following below link?

Is there any other method or I have to understand entire Libraries first and write the main code on my own?

Yes, I have generated a hex file using IAR and then dumped using flash programmer 2.

Thank you. I followed the steps given in the link and was able to connect to the network. Got ZDO_END_DEVICE_ANNCE_IND (0x45C1) too.

I'm using both the CC2538EM as ZNP and configuring one as router and other as coordinator with Z-tool.

Now, I want to send some message or data from router to coordinator and vice versa.

I went through many threads and documents on it but mostly they are for older version of z-stack.

I'm working on Z-stack 3.0.

I tried commands AF_data request and APP_message. But i didn't get any response on the other end.

How to read the data on the other end?

I used APP_MSG command, I put the dest address, message length and Message.

Also, I tried AF_DATA_REQUEST command, DEST address, len and data.

I don't know cluster id, trans id, dest end point, src end point so I left them 0.

Can you tell how to send and receive data?

You have to use correct cluster ID, destination and source endpoint.

I went through ZCL.h, there are so many clusters ids, which one I'm supposed to select?

I found endpoint in generic app.h, given as 8, but i didn't find any end point specified in any of the files.

Can you tell me where I'll get these Ids?

I suggest you to read the book at www.waveshare.com/.../Zigbee-Wireless-Networking.pdf to know cluster ID or endpoint better.

Hi,

Thanks for the help. I was able to send data from one end to other by referring to specified document.

Now I'm trying to work on sample switch and light application. But I saw there is EZ mode pairing, I can't press sw2 of both the devices as I have only one smartrf06 board.

One CC2538em ZNP configured as coordinator using z-tool, directly attached to pc via usb and other CC2538em mounted on smartrf06 acting as sample switch End point.

I was able to connect the Sampleswitch endpoint to the network as end device, but didn't see any command to turn ON?OFF led.

How can I get these working?

Yes, I have no other option other than using z-tool at one end because I have only one smartrf06 board.

You can use the following command to send ZCL toggle command.

<TX>10:28:39.1 COM4 AF_DATA_REQUEST (0x2401)
DstAddr: short address of destination device
DestEndpoint: endpoint of destination device
SrcEndpoint: endpoint of source device
ClusterID: 0x0006
TransID: 0x01
Options: 0x00

Sample light end device in cc2538em on smartrf06 and znp coordinator on other cc2538em using z-tool. I sent the data as you described above.

No led on/off on smartrf06 board though.

I want to control some led on the smartrf06 board which has cc2538em mounted on it through other znp coordinator cc2538em using z-tool.

I registered source endpoint as 0x03 using AF_REGISTER, and I took destination end point as 0x08 as it was given in the zcl_samplelight.h, destination address got popped with announcement.

I suggest you to use Ubiqua Packet Analyzer to check if the command is sent over the air.

Can I use Smart RF studio for that?

Also, If I'm able to send the ZCL toggle command as described in above comments, which LED on smartrf06 is supposed to toggle?

If you run SampleLight on srf06-CC2538EM, it's LED1.

Check if your Ubiqua protocol analyzer scans correct channel where your Zigbee network is.

I suggest you to set a fix channel in Z-Stack f8wconfig.cfg and test again with Ubiqua Protocol Analyzer to check it.

To add device to ubiqua that we have connected through usb , there is option in device manager, add device.

You need to have CC2531 USB dongle as sniffer HW connect to your desktop and Ubiqua Protocol Analyzer can use it to sniff over the air message.

I have 2 CC2538em and one smartrf06. I want to switch the led ON/OFF on CC2538em+smartrf06 by sending commands over air through other CC2538em(ZNP+Z-tool).

According to you screen shot, the toggle command should been sent. Don't you see the LED1 on CC2538em+smartrf06 been toggled?

No, led1 is not getting toggled. Can it be a problem because of ez mode of cc2538em +smartrf06(sample light end device) and non ez mode on cc2538em (znp +z-tool coordinator)? How to disable ez mode on sample light end device?

Since you already use short address and endpoint to send toggle command, there is no need to do EZ-mode.
