TPS54J061: what the device's OCP threshold when the Rtrip > 30.1Kohm?

Hi Team,

As subject , for TPS54J061, we suggest the Rtrip min to max value from 3.74K~30.1Kohm,

we also mention in datasheet saying if the RTRIP < 3.74K(min) , the current limit value will be default value,

but what if the Rtrip >30.1Kohm(max) , what's the OCP threshold will be?

This is a good question. My first thought is that it will lock the valley current limit at 0.996 A. However, I will need to do some digging for you. Are you wanting to hold a valley current limit of <1A?

It behaves similarly to what I said above. There is a clamp on the current limit pin so that if nothing is connected, it will default to the lowest possible current limit. This value won't necessarily be expressed by the function in the datasheet.

Hi Carson,

My customer is doing the design with our TPS54J061 and putting the Rtrip=30Kohm with 1% accuracy, and it worst case , the Rtrip might be 30.3Kohm(max) , which over our d/s max Rtrip resister 30.1Kohm a bit , so they are wondering what's the valley current threshold will be in this case.

Based on your reply above , does it mean's that if the Rtrip >30.1Kohm , the min valley current limit will be lock at around 0.996A?

That is correct. Should not be any problems if Resistor ends up slightly above 30.1kOhm, the valley current limit will be clamped.
