TLV320AIC3256: Wind Noise Suppression Algorithm?

Part Number: TLV320AIC3256

Other than a simple HPF, is there an algorithm available from TI (either in PurePath Studio or elsewhere) that can be implemented in the miniDSP to remove microphone wind noise from a 2-mic input configuration?

For example, an algorithm that suppresses un-correlated low-frequency noise found of the mic input signals?

My application needs to suppress wind-noise from an environmental sound input, not just speech, so I need to preserve as much low-frequency signal content as possible.

Thanks in Advance,

Ed

  • Hi Ed,

We haven't released any algorithm targeted for wind noise cancellation for any of the AIC devices.

However, the AIC3254 miniDSP has the required resources (2x50 MHz DSP core) to support a custom wind noise algorithm.

Custom algorithms can be built using Purepath Studio (PPS) - a graphical drag-and-drop signal-flow builder.

    Best Regards.
