Over the years, the TI Innovation Challenge (TIIC) in India has grown to become a massive platform for technical talent. This year with the new format, TIIC has enkindled passion amongst the students by providing a perfect platform to help scale their tech innovations into successful startups.

Entries have poured in from 624 engineering colleges across India and we couldn’t be more excited to see the groundbreaking work from the tech entrepreneurs of tomorrow. With our partners, IIM Bangalore who will support 10 winning ideas with incubation and Department of Science & Technology who will provide the seed and product development fund, we are confident that the IICDC 2016 (India Innovation Challenge Design Contest) will usher in a new era of innovation in India. We thank all the students, faculty members and the colleges for participating in IICDC 2016.

Involvements from all fronts

It’s inspiring to see that the enthusiasm for IICDC 2016 is not limited to the participating students and faculty members; but also amongst the evaluators. The student proposals were being evaluated by a panel of 75+ experts from industry and the start-up ecosystem. The evaluation of proposals was organized by The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Bangalore Chapter.

“The quality of ideas that we’ve received for IICDC 2016 are simply outstanding. These students have evidently put in a lot of effort and research into writing these proposals,” said a distinguished member of the TiE Bangalore network who is involved in evaluating these innovative proposals, “We’re quite looking forward to seeing which 10 of these ideas will emerge victorious and can become a formidable force to reckon with in the tech startup space in India.” said another evaluator.

Results & the Journey ahead

After a rigorous review of proposals a total of 428 teams(see list below) have qualified for the quarterfinals of the IICDC 2016. Congratulations to all the selected teams for being one step closer in becoming successful entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

We encourage all the selected teams to start working on designing their prototype for the quarterfinals of the contest. Teams will receive business and technical mentoring from IIMB and TI in this phase of the contest through several videos, blogs and MOOCs (massive open online  courses). We have collated some of the online resources from TI to help you get started
