The Internet of Things (IoT) is drawing a lot of attention and making developers of all types eager to create new products. But the new age “IoT engineers” face a new struggle as they have to specialize in completely different sectors (hardware, software, big data). How should one approach such a challenge?

Mobile developers, come one, come all

It might sound crazy, but you don’t have to be a hardware engineer in order to be an IoT maker. Atomation’s mobile (software development kit) SDK is already integrated with the TI SimpleLink™ CC2650 SensorTag kit wrapping it with a super friendly API. Mobile developers no longer need to leave their comfort zone and can control the physical environment using software solely. Even if you know a thing or two about hardware (even if you’re a hardware master ok?), save time by letting us take care of the hardware integration and focus on your creative original project. The SDK will let you take advantage of all features included in the SensorTag kit (i.e. temperature, humidity, pressure, accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer sensors) as well as Bluetooth® low energy connectivity. All can be easily controlled and the specific functions are up to you.

Did someone say cloud?

We know what you’re thinking: The IoT doesn’t amount to hardware and mobile. For a truly intelligent project you must have a cloud database. Staying true to our vision, we believe that this obvious need should not be a hassle. That’s why the mobile SDK serves as the gateway to the cloud meaning that you don’t need any external hub. Data is easily (and in certain cases automatically) uploaded to the cloud for big data analytics and insights. Our cloud API will let you explore different data visualizations, export the data to different formats (including Excel, XML, JSON and more) and generate customized reports. In addition, the cloud platform is also your project management console, letting you manage an unlimited number of projects with an organized easy to use interface. If you still have different preferences, data can be exported to a third party database. Once again, no extra skills/materials/money needed.

We’ve got your back

Although we are platform providers, service means everything to us. Even the easiest interfaces can be misunderstood after a long day of work or late at night. Our dedicated team can easily be reached via Email or through the Atomation website.

We’re always glad to support maker projects by simplifying things and leaving more room for creativity. The Atomation mobile SDK is available for download here - free of charge.
