Richard is correct. This stripe indicates the outside foil of the capacitor. These are non-polar capacitors so the stripe does not indicate polarity. I&amp;#39;ll blog sometime in the future on the best way to connect this type of capacitor in various circuits.&lt;/p&gt;

According to &amp;#39;&lt;a rel="nofollow" target="_new" href="http://www.justradios.com/captips.html&amp;#39;"&gt;www.justradios.com/captips.html&amp;&lt;/a&gt; the black band indicates which end of the cap has some metal foil and that this end should be connected to the lower voltage in order to maximize the life of the capacitor.&lt;/p&gt;
