TI demonstrates engineering creativity for consumer electronics at CES 2016

TI AvatarWe’re counting down the days until we arrive in Las Vegas for an exciting 2016 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). From state-of-the-art advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to inventive ideas for the Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable technology, we will showcase semiconductor technology that enables engineering creativity in consumer electronics.

For those attending the show, we’ll have more than 100 technology demonstrations in the TI Village. For those unable to attend this year, we have you covered! We’ll be posting videos during the show of many of our demos to our CES homepage. Here is a preview of several of our cutting-edge product demos:

  • Wearable devices showcase our ultra-low power capabilities including linear and wireless charging integration. See our wearables in action with demos featuring activity trackers, and as well as the medical diagnostic sensing machine, Dynosense, which features the bq25100 battery charger IC. Take a deeper look into how ultra-low power wearables can be charged with wireless power, in demos featuring our new 5W transmitter chipset, the bq50002 and bq500511.
  • TI DLP® Products will showcase a variety of display and optical sensing innovations for consumer electronics, including new 4K ultra-HD technology for home theater and business projector applications. This solution, the result of more than a decade of industry leadership, will be featured in the TI Village along with demos showcasing the latest from DLP advanced light control, automotive and DLP Pico™ projection technology for mobile smart TV and smart home applications. Experience optical sensing demos including Autodesk’s Ember 3D printer, which utilizes the DLP4500 and the DLP NIRscan™ Nano evaluation module for mobile spectroscopy using the KST mobile app.
  • Our broad portfolio of low-power wireless connectivity solutions and battery management products are truly powering Internet of Things (IoT) applications. From Wi-Fi® connected doorbells and multi-room wireless audio in the smart home to long-range, Sub-1GHz sensor networks and Bluetooth® Smart beacons driving smart cities, see how we are connecting the lives of consumers. The smart homes need high-tech yards, so we’ll be demoing the Husqvarna Automower® 450X, a robotic lawn mower that includes SIMPLE SWITCHER® DC/DC power management solutions and TI’s battery management solutions.
  • Our USB Type-C technology helps users connect and charge several demonstrations, from docking applications to hands-on smartphone, notebook and laptop chargers. These demos incorporate a broad portfolio of USB Type-C devices that enable “flippable” and reversible cables, including TI’s TPS65982 USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery Controller, which transmits data, power and video and can operate as a single- or dual-role port; TPS25810, the industry’s first single-chip USB Type-C downward-facing port controller switch; and HD3SS460, the industry’s first USB Type-C cross-point switch.
  • MSP430™ microcontroller with CapTIvate™ technology is the most noise immune capacitive touch microcontroller and is the only IEC61000-4-x certified solution. Providing developers with versatility in their consumer electronic designs, CapTIvate Technology supports metal touch, 3D gesturing, glove friendly designs and offers the most configurable buttons, sliders, wheels and proximity solutions.
  • Hear the difference our newest, industry’s highest-performance audio operational amplifier (op amp) makes with our Hi-Fi headphone amplifier demo. With our demo, you can select from a wide variety of TI amplifier options and listen to the sound quality of each for yourself.
