CC2530: Demodulation

Part Number: CC2530
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: Z-STACK

Hi Team,

Helping out a customer.

I need to receive and demodulate the CC3530 signal by SDR like HACKRF or USRP.
but the signal doesn't Match to IEEE802.15.4 .
everything is ok on MATLAB zigbee simulation framework : "Communications Toolbox Library for the ZigBee Protocol" and i can see zigbee preamble and packets .
However in CC2530 i cant get any result.

1)has any customization made on zigbee standard?
2)there are 2 different modulations for 2.4 ghz in zigbee standard . OQPSK+DSSS and DQPSK+CSS . which one is used?

Thank you very much.

  • Hi Mark,

Z-Stack is based on TI's IEEE PHY which is based on the IEEE 802.15.4-2006 standard utilizing OQPSK and DSSS.  For Zigbee communication, the throughput is 250 kbps at a frequency band of 2.4 GHz where the IEEE channel is selectable from 11 to 26.  I hope this helps with the customer's investigation.  What firmware have they used to program the CC2530 and is it actively communicating on a Zigbee network?

    Regards,
