CC2652P: SDK 5.20 has cancel supporting Auto Heap?

The previous SDK supports Auto Heap. I don't need to consider how many size of heap to be set when programming. But now I must consider the size of heap in my designing.

Hi Aries,

You are correct, Z-Stack in the SIMPLELINK-CC13X2-26X2-SDK v5.20 no longer uses the auto-heap feature. The change was made for better alignment across devices which have less RAM memory, like the CC2651R3/P3. 6 kB is acceptable for typical applications involving ~50 nodes, but for large networks an increased value is recommended, the limit of which depends on the device being used. HEAPMGR_METRICS can be enabled to monitor heap usage and tune the value as necessary.

In my project, coordinator of Big gateway (CC2652P coordinator) is designed to supports 200 nodes, and its Heap is set to 48KB. Is there any issue of this setting? And Small gateway (CC2651P3 coordinator) is designed to supports 100 nodes, but its Heap is only 8KB.

Is there some dangerous issue in large heap setting?

There is no issue with using a large heap setting and the allocations you've described should be sufficient, but using HEAPMGR_METRICS could help further determine this.

Ryan Brown1 Since Auto Heap feature is removed and application developers have to consider using different head size for different application, I would suggest TI to provide such information in an application note.

Thanks for the suggestion YK. I think it is worth further explaining in the Z-Stack User's Guide or updating SWRA650.
