Hi,

The XDS110 board is broken.Can I just use the cc2340 board to download bin file with JLINK instead of XDS110.I have tried to download bin file with uniflash to cc2340 by connecting SWD to JLINK.But the JLINK can't find the cc2340 device .Hope you help . thanks

For information, if you have other TI LaunchPads, you can repurpose their XDS110 as described here https://software-dl.ti.com/simplelink/esd/simplelink_lowpower_f3_sdk/7.40.00.64/exports/docs/ble5stack/ble_user_guide/html/quickstart-guide/quickstart-intro-cc23xx.html#run-your-first-program-on-the-device-device

JLink probes can also be used. In such case you should ensure using the J-Flash Lite to flash the device (provided by Segger on https://www.segger.com/downloads/jlink/) . Ensure to select version v7.92i or newer.
Last but not least, could you please specify the toolchain you are using (TICLANG or IAR) to build the software images? TICLANG is not enabled to populate the CCFG CRCs - as this is done by CCS or Uniflash while flashing the device. I will of course guide you to navigate through this limitation if needed.

Thank you for your help.

Now I can download bin file by JLINK ,but i can't debug and i don't think the program is working .I'm using CCS12.4.0 and TILANG to build images. I think it has something to do with the CCFG file.Is there ducumentation that can guide me in using JLINK fo cc2340

Hi James,

Glad to see you get the JLink probe to download an image on the CC2340R5.

I understand the image is not working as expected. Like you I believe this is caused by the CRCs of the CCFG section. In order to confirm this theory, I would like you try flashing the device using an image with the CRCs of the CCFG section properly populated.
You can get this by dumping the flash of the device after flashing it with an XDS110 debugger. I have done the same for you with the empty example (blinking DIO14): /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/538/cc2340r5_5F00_blink_5F00_DIO14.bin

If the image I have provided works, then I recommend you implement a post-build script in CCS to properly populate the CRCs of the CCFG section properly.The attached guide shows how to do this. /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/538/PostBuildScript.pdf

Note: this post build script will be included in future version of CCS and of the SDK (probably by the end of Q2 2024). The procedure I have described will then not be required anymore.

When it comes to debugging, I recommend you use JLink SystemView (distributed by Segger https://www.segger.com/downloads/jlink/) - here again, please ensure you select version 7.92i or newer.
