DLPDLCR160CPEVM: EVM DMD device ID does not match GUI product ID

Part Number: DLPDLCR160CPEVM

Tool/software:

Hello E2E Experts,

Good day.

DLP-EVM-GUI-4.0.0.15-Setup.exe:

Hardware connection:

My question is whether the development board model DLPDLCR160CPEVM corresponds to the GUI. If not, please send the corresponding GUI link or installation package. If there is still a need for configuration somewhere, why can't it be connected? The main purpose is to control the brightness of the LED through UART.

  • Hello User,

Can you share an image of the connection settings page? It should show the baud rate and other information as well.

Are you able to read the MSPM0 version using Code Composer Studio and a debugger? Older releases may have no support or need different settings to operate with the GUI.

    Best Regards,

    John

  • Hello John,

    Good day.

At present, I don't have the XDS110 debugging probe in hand. There is only one device similar to TL-232R-3V3 USB-to-serial conversion. I want to connect the DLP EVM GUI 4.0.0.15 software through the UART interface to adjust the LED RGB brightness. Is the software interface correct?

    TICSC

  • Hello,

Testing with the GUI was always done with the TTL-232R-3V3 USB-to-serial cable. There may be a chance that what the client is using can work.

Does the client have a purchase date for the EVM? There was an advanced launch and the RTM version of both controller FW and MSPM0 software too. Depending on what unit was shipped to the client there may be some limitations or incompatibility with the GUI and EVM.

  • Hello John,

    Good day.

This is the relevant information on the purchase packaging.

Depending on what unit was shipped to me, there may be some limitations or incompatibility with the GUI and EVM.Is there a corresponding solution?

    Regards,

    TICSC

  • Hello John,

    Good day.

Additionally, does this situation require a firmware upgrade?
For the brightness adjustment I mentioned earlier, can the EVM be opened and connected through a USB-to-serial port conversion tool for adjustment?
    The GUI is below.

  • Hello John,

    Good day.

Do we have any updates yet.

    Regards,

    TICSC

  • Hello,

If possible, it is recommended to update both the controller and MSPM0 with the packages available on the EVM page on TI.com.

The GUI does not support the specific cable shown previously. The user may send commands directly to the MCU and the MCU will send commends to the controller for brightness changes. The user would need to look at the Software Programmer's Guide for the controller commands and the command builder that comes with the MSPM0 package. This will allow the user to know the OpCode for the controller and how to package it so the MSP can decipher the command.

    Best,

    John
