Hi,

I working on CC1352R collector.

I want to upgrade new firmware to collector using self loader. My idea is I will take hex file through uart and store it in external flash. This external flash data over write on previous code. is this process possible??

And In which location code will store??

It's feasible and I suppose you should use binary format instead of hex format. By the way, it should be easier to use serial boot loader to do FW update instead of using external flash. You can refer to chapter 10 in www.ti.com/.../swcu185b.pdf for serial boot loader.

I referred www.ti.com/.../swcu185b.pdf.

In collector application, In CCFG file i enable the boot loader setting.

I did following changes
#define SET_CCFG_BL_CONFIG_BOOTLOADER_ENABLE 0xC5
#define SET_CCFG_BL_CONFIG_BL_LEVEL 0x01
#define SET_CCFG_BL_CONFIG_BL_PIN_NUMBER 0xFF
#define SET_CCFG_BL_CONFIG_BL_ENABLE 0xC5

1. any other changes are need in CCFG file ??
2. what is my next step to proceed upgrade process??
3. To upgrade the new firmware using serial boot loader, any gpio control is need from outside??
4. is it possible to run two codes in cc1352??

1&3. I suppose you need to set SET_CCFG_BL_CONFIG_BL_PIN_NUMBER to a specific pin so you can use that pin to control entering boot loader or not.
2. You have to implement the hand shaking steps in chapter 10 of www.ti.com/.../swcu185b.pdf to do upgrade process.
4. You can refer to dev.ti.com/.../

If i use gpio 3 to control entering bootloader mode can i configure like this

is this correct??
And To enter into boot loader mode i have to make gpio 3 high and any another gpio is require for reset ??

If you use GPIO 3, that's correct. According to your CCFG settings, you have to make gpio 3 high to enter boot loader when reset. No other gpio is required.

Why do you put those code in CC1310? I suppose you should implement those codes on another MCU connecting to CC1310 through UART and doing serial boot loader update from that MCU.

Hi Mamatha,

The serial bootloader is ROM-based so no changes are required to your firmware other than enabling the backdoor bootloader functionality with the definitions already mentioned. Please further review the Bootloader Interface section of the TRM provided by YK. The TI-15.4-STACK-GATEWAY-LINUX-SDK also provides a bootloader application which you could reference: software-dl.ti.com/.../linux-example-applications.html

Hi YiKai Chen,

I want to upgrade CC1352P. This CC1352P controller connected to customer device through uart. In my collector custom board collector CC1352P one uart is connected to customer device uart, from this customer device i will get the new firmware image. And another uart of the cc1352P connected to msp430 controller.

please explain in detail, how can do upgrade process.

if i do upgrade from customer device, then i have run boot loader application in customer device. and right now only uart is connected to customer device, To enable the boot loader i have connected one gpio to customer device. am i correct??

please explain how to execute TI-15.4-STACK-GATEWAY-LINUX-SDK bootloader application.

And i referred TI-15.4-STACK-GATEWAY-LINUX-SDK user guide, in that mentioned, two gpios are required to control the CC1352 device.

1. GPIO A used to reset the decive.

2. GPIO B controls the masked ROM boot loader entry into the flash update mode.

GPIO B , i have to configure in CCFG file as SET_CCFG_BL_CONFIG_BL_PIN_NUMBER, am i correct??

I referred Linux Serial Boot loader Example Application. But i didn't get clarity.

1. can i run this linux serial boot loader example in my customer device.

2. And in that document mentioned like
At power up, the CC13xx/CC26x2 device can be configured to read a GPIO pin and then do one of the following actions:

1. Proceed normally.
2. Enter bootloader or flash programmer mode.

is this process is there in collector code or i have to implement this??

1. If your customer device runs Linux OS, I suppose it should be no problem.
2. This means to control the specific pin set by SET_CCFG_BL_CONFIG_BL_PIN_NUMBER to let CC1352R enter boot loader mode when resetting CC1352R.

yes, my customer device runs linux os. But right now i don't have customer device. So can i follow TI 15.4-Stack - Linux Gateway Project Zero to do this upgrade process using PC.

I don't remember I see TI-15.4-STACK-GATEWAY-LINUX-SDK implement serial boot loader. Where do you see TI-15.4-STACK-GATEWAY-LINUX-SDK implements serial boot loader?

Hi,

I am working on cc1352R. I installed TI 154 stack_linux_x64_2_09_00_09 SDK and i followed project 0 process. I am facing one problem.

when i executed ./run_demo.sh command it is showing following error.

Error:ENOENT: no such file or directory, stat '/home/mamatha/ti/ti154stack_linux_x64_2_09_00_09/prebuilt/gateway/webserver/collectorApp.html' at Error (native)

In sdk collectorApp.html file is not there. what is the problem, why collectorApp.html file is not there in SDK??

To run the linux serial boot loader application i used following
./host_cc13xx-sbl /dev/ttyACM2 collector_default_cc1352lp.hex - p

getting no such file or directory problem . is this command wrong??

Please refer to the following resources:

Make sure that the host_cc13xx-sbl /dev/ttyACM2 exists and is the correct UART port for your device, also collector_default_cc1352lp.hex should be located in the proper base folder. It will take some time to learn and understand the TI-15.4-STACK-GATEWAY-LINUX-SDK environment.

1. cc13xx-sbl file is there in linux sdk, but it is showing cc13xx-sbl file is not there.

2. I developed my application in Collector example in windows. To upgrade the new firmware using Linux serial boot loader, may i have to run co processor example in controller?? if i have to run co processor in my controller then how can implement my application.

I test this on Ubuntu 18.04. I run "sudo ./host_cc13xx-sbl /dev/ttyACM0 ../../firmware/oad/cc13x0/empty_app.bin cc13x0 -e -p -v" and it can run without issue. See the following log from my test.

I suppose you need to do mass erase to clear CCFG before you want to do serial boot loader update next time. This might be fixed when you generate your own FW to enable serial boot loader from CCFG settings.

1. I generated new FW with enable serial boot loader from CCFG settings, i tried it getting same problem.
2. I did mass erase using uniflash(All unprotected sectors) and i did same process, it is not connecting

1. I suppose you would set a boot loader pin and set it before your do serial boot loader update, do you?
2. Try to use Flash Programmer 2 to do mass erase. I do this and test without problem.

yes, i pressed button and reset pins, now it is working fine.

what i did previously i disconnected the LP from PC and used same teminal which i open previously.
Now i opened new terminal when i reconnected LP, now it is woking fine.

I created new hex file using CCS in windows. I copied that hex file in UBUNTU. I am trying to download new hex file but getting
binary file cannot be read.

yes, i used sudo

some hex files are working fine but few hex files giving problem which are provided in SDK.
following hex files are working
1.coprocessor_cc1352r1lp_tirtos_ccs.hex
2. collector_default_cc1350lp.hex

following hex file not working
1. collector_default_cc1352r1lp.hex
2.sensor_default_cc1352r1lp.hex

I suspect those files are incomplete uploaded to Linux. Are those files default provided in TI 15.4 Stack Linux GW?

yes those files default provided in 15.4 stack Linux GW.

And i created new hex file of collector example in windows and i copied that file in linux sdk. I tried to download new hex file using serial boot loader getting same problem(Binary file cannot be read).

If you copy those files to Windows and try to use Flash Programmer 2 to download to your CC1352R, can it work?
