Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ2002T , LM317 , BQ2002
I have a problem with bq2002T NiMH fast-charge management IC. It does provide enough voltage but not the amp. It started at 120mA at 12 V once I connect it to a 12V power supply, and it will keep…
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ2000T , BQ2002T , BQ2002 My design uses a 2-cell NiMH battery pack and a 5V input source for the battery charger.
I have a couple of quesions:
Which would be a better charging IC choice (BQ2000T or BQ2002T)?
Which…
Hello Hardy,
BQ25171-q1 does not support any balancing of cells. Balancing generally not needed for NiMH, see Kedar's post here: e2e.ti.com/.../cell-balancing-for-ni-mh-battery-in-series
The charger will only see the cells top of stack voltage. Does…
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ2002T Is there a reference design for a 1-cell NiMH charging circuit using bq2002T?
Can bq2002T implements power path charging like LTC4060?

The load will be connected…
Hi Bill-san,
I appreciate your kind support. That was very helpful information.
Can I ask two more question?
1. The configuration what you mentioned is like the following configuration.
However how can we calculate RB1? What is RB1 for?
2. You selected…
hey thank you for quick response! you mentioned connect to load OR charger. but i would like to connect to load AND charger (BQ2002T) as shown in picture below.
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL1963A , BQ2002T , LM317 I am using the USB 5V to charge 3 NiMH batteries in series. The LM317 has a rather large dropout voltage and there are many new LDO regulators that reduce the dropout voltage to as low as 300mV at…
Try looking at the bq2002T.
If you have a static load, that is ok, but if the load changes then that effects the -dV/dt, so one has to use a T version and monitor a thermistor that is not effected by a changing load.
Yes I'm using Bq2002T.
In the state diagram seem it can go out trickle state if the temperature fall down 0.25Vcc.
So if one of terminations occur I can't understand with bq2002t if the battery is full charged. I will know only if it goes in trickle…
