Part Number: BQ24278 Tool/software: Hello, In all power bank ICs or battery charging ICs, there is an lim resistor that sets the maximum charging current. If I set it to its maximum limit, say 2.5A for the bq24278 IC, and the input power adapter (5V…

Part Number: BQ24278 The pin CD has very little description....Suggests that it is the IC Hardware Disable pin and places it into High Z mode....What does this exactly mean? Does the chip go into low power mode drawing very little current? Also does this…

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24278 , BQ25896 , BQ24250 Thanks for quick feedback. I need to come up with a solution (may be SW) as there over 2K boards built. A few questions 1) VBATREG spec is not clear in BQ24278. Why 2 values for TA=25? …

Thanks for following up on this. We have 2K boards made with BQ24278 and need to have some sort of a solution (SW based?) to detect end of charge properly. A few questions 1) The condition can occur when VBAT > VBATREG-VRCH. Isn't this the case whenever…

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24278 Hi Jeff, This is the third and final, hopefully, question about BQ24278. As I said before, I'll use the chip just for charging Li-Ion battery. I've asked how are the connections if system load is not present…

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24278 Hi, I want to charge my li-ion battery with bq24278 without system connection. As I asked earlier, you told me that SW, SYS, and BOOT components should be still connected, and left BGATE unconnected. In this…

Thank you for the answer and suggestions. I need exactly 2.5A charge current, so the bq24278 will be a better option, I suppose. Moreover, should I also consider to leave VDPM pin unconnected?

The resistor divider should be set to give 1.2V typical when V(IN) is has fallen to the voltage at which you want input current limit to be zero (i.e., the maximum rated voltage of the source).
