Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ3060 Hello,
I am using the F28069 to try to communicate with the BQ3060. In all the documentation I see code referencing ReadSMBusWord(). I am unable to find what the I2C receive should look like. Does anyone know…
A year later from when this was posted and I am still having a similar problem with a new install. I am using the bq Gas Gauge Evaluation Software for the bq3060 with an EV2400 on Windows 7 64 bit OS. I installed sluc209.exe followed by EV2400_Support_Components_20110524…
This might be nothing but I just looked at the TRM of the device, and I noticed that the BQ3060 can send a last byte which would correspond to the PEC. It's a configuration option that would be on the real device.
Have you tried including this byte…
Hi Mike,
The active (recommended) devices for a 4S3P application are bq40z50 (Impedance Track) and bq3060 (CEDV). Impedance track is more accurate, while CEDV is quite a bit easier to grasp the concept and debug. Your capacity is in line with the design…
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24725A , BQ3060 Hello, I have a battery charger that we are producing and i am seeing higher than expected failure rates of the charging circuit. The circuit is powered by a 15V SMPS, uses at BQ24725A with a PIC18F25K22…
The internal cell balancing current is about 10mA and this adequate for most cells. You can add external cell balancing to support higher capacity packs to balance faster. Here is an app report on external cell balancing the helps to explain some of the…
Hi Martin,
In your case, you just need to fool the gauge by scaling the current related parameters. Just setting the design energy scale would not just do it. See this attached one pager.

Hi Frank
I will recommend you use a different system side gauge like the bq27531. That allows more for a larger pack. Also, you can scale the current related parameters including the design capacity and current as described in the app note and this…
5282.how to guage high capacity packs.pdf HI Blevins,
Your observation is likely correct. You will need to scale your current by fooling the gauge during calibration. pls see the attached pdf above and the app note below on scaling.
