    BQ33100EVM-001: voltage balancing for coin cell supercapacitor - in combination of series and parallel

    Part Number: BQ33100EVM-001

    Respected Sir/Mam,

                     I am currently in need of guidance and suggestions for battery management systems that could be used for a coin cell supercapacitor bank.

    We have made a previous purchase of BQ 33100 EVM for upto 5 coin cell supercap, but now we are are in need of suggestion of products that could be used in the following cases.

    1. Battery management system for more than 5-coin cell supercapacitor
    2. Battery management system for parallel connection of coin cell supercapacitor.
    3. Battery management system that could be possibly used for a large coin cell based super capacitor with both series and parallel combination.

    Kindly help me with the possible products in this regard .

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    BQ33100EVM-001: EVM configuration guidance sought

    Part Number: BQ33100EVM-001

    Hi,

    I'm using the BQ33100EVM-001 and EV2400. I have just flashed the BQ33100 firmware to the latest version. Device is shown as bq33100 R0, FW version V0_15_BLD0017

    I have 5x 100F, 2.7V, 15mOhm super capacitors wired to the EVM.

    My EVM is connected to a 14V PSU.

    The board is running but i wanted clarification on some of the settings.

    I've carried out a Capacitor Voltage Calibration, with the voltage increasing by 2.1V (2100mV, 4200mV, 6300mV, 8400mV and 10500mV.

    1. On the System Voltage Calibration the measured system voltage is shown as 13991mV but the actual system voltage is shown as 2000mV. I don't appear to be able to change this, such that its saved. it always reverts back to 2000mV.
    2. In SBS the capacitance is reported as 2.0F and ESR 400mohm.
    3. In Dataflash>System Data the Design Capacitance, Init 1st Capacitance and Capacitance are all 2.0F. How do i change these to reflect the capacitance used? What is the difference in the three items?
    4. In Dataflash>System Data the Design ESR, Initial ESR and ESR are all 400mohm. How do i change these to reflect the ESR of the capacitors used? What is the difference in the three items?
    5. In Dataflash>System Data the Design voltage is 9000mV. What is this value referring to?
    6. In SVS in the safety status i see a OV flag set. Why?

    Thanks.

    BQ33100EVM-001: EVM Design

    Part Number: BQ33100EVM-001

    Q1. According to the datasheet suggestion ""The VCC and PACK pin must be connected to the positive termination of the capacitor array.""

    But why does the EVM Board connect the BQ33100 PIN24_VCC to the input of the charger circuit instead of the positive termination of the capacitor array?

    Q2. According to the datasheet suggestion that the VCC,max is 25V or Vvc2 + 5V. Refer to the EVM circuit design, when the EVM is powered on, VCC = 15V, but Vcc2 is slowly charging at this time, and VCC-Vvc2> 5V, will the BQ33100 IC be damaged? How to design VCC is correct?

    Q3: Should PIN2_NC  to be connected to PIN24_VCC if not used?

    RE: BQ33100EVM-001: design consideration

    2SCR573D3 maybe replace 2SD1758 in BQ33100 EVM design?

    Hi team,

    My customer wants to duplicate the EVM design and looks for alternatives for external components. Could you please comment on the following questions? Thanks for your support!

    - Can the following materials be substituted?

    Q4 & Q5_Si1023X => Si2301CDS

    Q6_Si4435DDY => FDMC4435BZ

    Q9_BSS223PW => Si2301CDS

    -  Could you provide the selection rules for alternative materials

    Q7_2SD1758TLR =>

    Q8_ZXMN3A14FTA =>

    Best regards,

    Sam Ting

    Compiler/BQ33100EVM-001: Connect BQ33100 to MSP430 or Arduino

    Part Number: BQ33100EVM-001

    Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler

    I would like to connect BQ33100 to MSP430 or Arduino. To do that, I read that I need some libraries and unseal code. Where can I get that?

    BQ33100EVM-001: Supercapacitor learning process

    Part Number: BQ33100EVM-001

    Hi,

    I am using bq33100EVM-001 for balancing and monitoring the value of supercapacitor and its ESR measurement.

    As I am trying to complete the learning process of supercapacitor but learn cycle fail.  A scope does indicate that the capacitor voltage doesn't actually reach V learn Max. It reaches to 11654mV and starts discharging.

    I have updated my initial, design value of supercapacitor and the value of ESR in the data flash screen. SBS screen showing me the exact value of capacitor and ESR. BQEVSW does not calculate the value of the capacitor and ESR.

    I want to know what should I do to complete the learning process so the bqEVSW calculate the exact value of capacitor and ESR?

    Thank You,

    Grishma

    BQ33100EVM-001: Communication Issue between above card and EV2300

    Part Number: BQ33100EVM-001

    HI there,

    I currently have a BQ33100EVM-001 and the requisite EV2300 comms module. i am attempting to use the circuit to measure the charging/discharging and general states of supercapacitors for a university project.

    i have followed the online manuals and downloaded the software, only to find that the computer doesnt recognise the card...

    i am currently running the setup on an older laptop with Windows 7, (i downloaded and installed the updated software to work on 7).

    however, nothing still works... is there a step that i am missing somewhere?

    any help would be greatly appreciated, as i am unable to get the chipset to function.

    Kind Regards,

    Jemal

    BQ33100EVM-001: bq33100 EVM- CFET

    Part Number: BQ33100EVM-001

    Hi,

    I am using bq33100 EVM for balancing the supercapacitor of value 600F. I want to do the complete learning process for calculation of the value of capacitor and ESR. Because the board is showing the data flash (default) values of capacitor and ESR.

    EVM malfunctions whenever I am trying to charge the capacitor by issuing command x0046 to enable CFET flag in the operation status register. When I issue the FET control command, the board started to flow higher current of 32A. I am unable to understand why these happen.

    Is it a possibility of failure of the transistor because of the heavy current? If yes, what measures I should take to avoid a malfunction in the EVM. Please help me to resolve these issues.

    Thank you,

    Grishma
