i recommend to try CCM to see the effects on the waveforms. It is possible, that the layout has to be improved for a proper DCM operation with these specs. Also CCM operation can reduce the heating of the inductor and FET.

Hi Daniel,
LM5123 has a bypass mode and could support what the customer wants, however the max voltage of the input pins is limited to 42V.
Another possibility for a synchronous solution would be LM5122.

Hi Daniele,
You are right, it would be a good idea to operate the MOSFET with a higher voltage.
For this you can connect the 9V to VCC directly. You dont need to connect it to BIAS.
