  • LP3985: Start up into Pre-bias?

    Allen Wachter

Part Number: LP3985 Are there any issues with the LP3985-5.0 starting up into a pre-bias condition where the pre-bias will always be lower than Vin? It will also be lower than the output set point. Thanks!

Hi Scott, I guess that the LP3985 have been tortured so much, that you cannot expect a nominal behaviour from them. Only the heaven knows what the brave LP3985 had to endure... :-) I would fix the PCB problems, mount some fresh LP3985 and start…

Hi , LP3985 is an older LDO family that was originally released by National Semiconductor before the TI acquisition. As such some of the phrasing in the datasheet is how National Semiconductor described products at the time rather than how TI describes…

Part Number: LP3985 Hi, Recently my customer tested the LP3985 with Vin > abs max, let's say 7V. He noticed that the device will shut down. If 7V is reduced to 5V, the device works again. Is this part of the protection and is a confirmed feature for…

Part Number: LP3985 Hi, LP3985-2.5 is used to drive LED with 5mA. What would happen if input is 7V which is slightly exceed the absolute voltage of 6.5V. Would it failed? If not, what is the maximum voltage it can withstand without damaging the device…
