    Hi Webber, two devices may be Ok for this application, TPS61251 and TPS61099. I'm not sure which one works. so I would suggest to apply an EVM for evaluation.

    0.5A is enough. when short, the IC can't be broken. Just like TPS61099, it has the short output to GND protect. because the customer didn't accept TPS61099's package and price.
