Currently we only have TPS61230. we are also developing TPS61230A, better efficiency and smaller solution size. but the RTM schedule could be a problem.

This kind of usage is for some specially desinged "EN" , not every IC can use this kind of function. TPS61230 EN pin has this function.

    1. the first waveform is VIN? could you try to add large input capacitor to stabilize the input voltage. make sure the cable between the power supply and the converter is as short as possible. 2. please increase to the output capacitor, try to add another…

the problem is that the 250mV to 350mV hysteresis is too large for this application. because this function is used in low input voltage condition. what this the output current requirement for the boost converter. you can have a look TPS61230, which has…

layout is also critical for a boost converter, please follow the application note to place components " www.ti.com/.../slva773.pdf" . it is OK to let LBO and LBI floating. i would suggest TPS61230 for your application.

Current limit is taken care of inside the TPS61230 model in WEBENCH. When you input your Vinmin, Vinmax, Iout, and Ta requirements into WEBENCH, we assume the Iout value you enter is the maximum Iout your design needs to handle. For the TPS61230, if…

The layout are not optimum, but better than the first one. the ceramic capacitor should be as the same layout of the IC, the routing between the IC and the capacitor is short and width. following is the method to measuring the voltage spike www.ti.com…

  • RE: question of TPS61230A

    Jasper Li
    Jasper Li
For this your application, i would suggest TPS61021A or TPS61230, TPS61280D with support VIN>VOUT. the TPSP61230A can't support VIN higher than VOUT. it is not damaged, but enter a special mode which we don't suggest customer to use.

a boost converter as TPS61230 normally limit the input current, that mean the output current will change with the input voltage. in your application, the VIN could be higher than VOUT, so you need to select a buck-boost converter.
