Just as an information, we now have 6 devices in the TPS6280x family: TPS62800/1/2 for 1A with smallest size and TPS62806/7/8 for 600 mA with highest efficiency.

Best option would be to use a separate DCDC like the TPS62800 or TPS62740 from PMID.
You can use the LS/LDO but note that it will be in load switch mode by default.
