What is the cold resistance of the bulb? Please review the bulb datasheet. Also, please provide analog scope shots showing VIN, L1, L2, VOUT and IOUT of the TPS63020. It is possible that the bulb looks like a very low resistance load to the converter…

For the TPS63020 to SYNC, the frequency would have to be in the MHz range. Even if this happens due to a bounce, the converter will return to the free-running frequency if a SYNC signal is not received within several switch cycles.

Generally, we recommend you follow the design procedure in the datasheet and your schematic and layout match that of the EVM. See my comments below: Shlomi Yehezkia said: Q1: Can the PS/SYNC pin (power safe mode) be active for good? [D.A.] PS…

The TPS6302x is expected to have a higher output voltage in power save (PFM) mode. This prevents the output voltage from dipping below the set output when a load is applied. In PFM mode, the feedback is between two points near .500V and .525V which…

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS63020 The data sheet for the TPS63020 is specific that the internal oscilator and the external sync frequencies are between 2200 kHz and 2600 kHz. What happens if we externally try to sync this device to 1800 kHz…

Hi Poh Leong, what you are asking is related to physics. When you operate from a voltage below you desired output voltage, than the converter operates in boost mode. Basically the current drive capability is related to the switch current inside the…
