Hi Logan, I think your understanding is correct. TWL6032 only supports 1 5V input by default, a second 5V VAC requires external chip. See Figure 4-23 in the datasheet. Alternatively, the second 5V can be bucked down and treated as VBAT, like they do…

I think that workaround may not work as expected if charger is enabled when battery is removed. In that case, the charger will be supplying pack+ and so the NMOS gate will stay high even though nothing is connected. You may want to experiment…

Toggling CHRG_DET_N has no effect after the first rising edge (For A2B4 OTP). Rising edge sets a latch to use CIN_LIMIT instead of E_CIN_LIMIT that can only be reset by removing charger.
