Patrick, The bq2000 does a crude chemistry detection but terminates the Nixx chemistries using a LiIon charge profile. The recommended termination method for Nixx for longest life is Negative dV and Peak Voltage Detection, which is provided by the…

Recently, we don't have a new development on NiMH charger. But, bq2002, bq2004 may support 20 cell battery. But, my question is: how do you do a cell balance? Thanks, Wang

Hello Khoi, Charging NiMH is not as easy as Lithium based chemistries. 1. Fast charge must be >=C/2 in order to force the chemical reaction to show -dV/dt and +dT/dt. When a NiMH is full its voltage actually starts to decrease, -dV/dt, and its temperature…

Hi Bill, My apologies for my late response also. You're quite right about U8, the 2R resistor is between the out pin and Adj as it ought to be. Q2/Q1 are arranged like this to overcome the IC not behaving as I expected it to - it's a work around…

Ryan Thanks for your answer. I have a BQ2002 in a board using a LM1117. The voltage drop across the device and diode is not allowing the voltage to rise above 3.1 so the cells only get 1.5 volts per cell at full charge. I have seen a device using…

Same as other SMBus chargers (bq24725A/35...), bq24780S can charge different type battery chemistries. But, it needs the host controller to control the charge current, charge voltage, charge termination, trickle charge and safety timer... 4.2V input…

Hello, The wireless receiver you are using is not a direct battery charger device. bq51013B is designed to provide a constant 5V output at load current of up to 1A maximum (and can be reduced with current limit resistor external to the device). …

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61161 , LM317 , BQ2002 , BQ2000 Hi everyone! I'm really a non-expert in battery-management, so I will ask for help before designing something (it is hobby only, no consumer product) that will take me time and then…

With your input voltage and charge current, I think a better solution is the bq2002 linear charger. But to design with either the bq2002 or bq2000, you will not be able to generate a robust solution overnight. You need to read the datasheet and user…

You will need to use a bq2002, bq2004, or bq2005 instead of the bq24032a. NiMH batteries have different charge algorithm than LiIon batteries.
