  • LM2588: Chip randomly starts up in stuck mode

    John Rehwinkel
    John Rehwinkel
Part Number: LM2588 I have a simple flyback transformer based boost supply built around an LM2588, and noticed it would occasionally start up in a mode where the circuit would draw excessive current. Originally, it would recover after a short while and…

You are correct about the connections. The FB pins should be grounded except for one device that will regulate the output; the COMP pins should be connected together. They also should be synced together. The best thing to do would be to supply an external…

I am designing a simple 12VDC - 260VDC (20mA) switcher and I am stuck for a (UK) source for a 'T1' - 1:14 with a 135uH primary. Or, a design calculator for ring ferrite cores? Thanks in advance Nick

Without a 'scope it may be difficult to troubleshoot. Can you send your schematic and PCB layout? What current do you need from the 24V? Keep in mind that the 7.2V input supply will require at least 24/7.2 = 3.3x more current than the motor requires;…
