  • RE: TPS2421-2: Current value in retry mode

Hi, The package of TPS2595 isn't good for us.. By the way, i don't think that device is operating <5W power limit since P = 5*2.7 = 13.5W. TPS2595 should have same Power limit, or not? Thanks

Hi Ian, Most of our efuse devices including TPS2595 and TPS2596 assert a fault after thermal shutdown due to over current event. In our next generation of devices we are considering to assert a fault when the device is in current limiting mode.…

Hi Jason, Yes. your understanding is correct. The current limit accuracy at 1A setting is 30% for TPS25924. In case you want better accuracy device, please have a look at TPS2596 and TPS2595 which have better current limit accuracy at lower currents…

Hi Stephane, With I2C control, LM25066 is the right choice for accurate overload and short circuit protection. There are other options like TPS2595, TPS25982, TPS25942A without I2C control Regards, Rakesh

Hi Kevin, Schematic looks fine. Add TVS diode at the input as shown in the TPS259824OEVM schematic. Any specific reason to pick TPS25982 for 2.5A application? TPS2595 would be right fit here. BR, Rakesh

Hi Hung, Welcome to E2E! TPS2491DGS does not have any certification. UL grants safety certification only for integrated over current limiter devices such as TPS2595, TPS25982 etc. Can you share your system specifications, use case and requirements…

Hey Steve, Thanks for the clarification on the circuit. It would be difficult to conclude the mode of failure of the switch, since it could vary depending on what breaks. If the ESD diode shorts, it could cause an input short. However, if the body…

Hi David, Thanks for reaching out on E2E! For these requirements, I think an eFuse might be better suited than a load switch. I recommend taking a look at the TPS2595 for this application, it can support up to 4A and has overvoltage and overcurrent…
