AMC1200: AMC1200 internal (Primary - Secondary) insulation distance question

Part Number: AMC1200

Hi, TI expert.

The customer applied  AMC1200BDUBR to the charger for medical devices.

Medical device certification requires 8mm of insulation distance inside the IC.

Q1) If you look at the datasheet, AMC1200BDUBR has an internal insulation distance of 7mm, is that correct?

Is 8mm impossible with AMC1200BDUBR?

Q2) If I use the DWV package (SOIC-8), does the internal insulation distance of 8mm satisfy?

Please confirm.  Thank you.

  • Hi Grady,

It looks like you are talking about the creepage and clearance distance of the AMC1200.  You won't get to 8mm with the DUB package - the DWV package is thinner and wider.  Meeting 8mm creepage and clearance is not an issue for the DWV package as long as you follow the recommended land pattern shown in the datasheet (see page 30).
