LM358: Decoding texts on IC

Part Number: LM358

Hi,

We have recently purchased few quantity of LM358.

The part is written in the first line. There are few more texts written in second (3 characters) and third line (6 characters).

What does this texts stand for and how to decipher that. Eg:

Line 1 Text: LM358

Line 2 Text: 83Y

Line 3 Text: SH1718

We are not getting any information about Line 2 and Line 3 texts in the datasheet.

Hi Praveen,

I guess the second line contains year, month and assembly location. So your OPAmp seems to be from March of 2018.

The third line seems to give lot information.

Hello Praveen,

Welcome to the e2e forum.

Kai is correct.

There is a lot of room on top of the package so we filled it with characters. The only useful line is the "LM358" line.
