INA191: About control of enable pin

Hi Tsukui,

I would mount a 10k pull-down resistor from the ENABLE pin to signal ground, provided the ENABLE pin is controlled by a push-pull output of microcontroller.

If the ENABLE pin is controlled by an open-collector or open-drain ouput -on the other hand- the obligatory pull-up resistor will do the job.

Customers want to reduce the mounting area as much as possible.
So they don't want to implement pull-down resistors.

Could you tell me the operation other than the output ON / OFF is not confirmed?
I need to tell the customer exactly the risks of putting the EN pin in Hi-Z status.

Hey Yusuke,

I agree with Kai's recommendations about a pull-down resistor. As far as the risks of using no resistor, if you leave the ENABLE pin in a floating state, that floating state theoretically could enable the device, causing problems elsewhere in the circuit

Hi Tsukui,

a 0201 10k resistor would be 0.58 x 0.29 millimeters. It's hard to believe that there's no board space available for the pull-down resistor
