OPA3690: Power issue

Part Number: OPA3690
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA690

Hi

Why two set of Power Supply pins are used in OPA3690 op amp, is there any particular reason for that.

it is ok to use single set of power supply to operate all 3-channel

Actually in my design if I use single channel op amp(OPA690) its working Perfectly, But OPA3690 IS Replaced with OPA690 Triple output IC get heated up. Please anyone suggest solution as soon as Possible.

  • Hi Manohar,

having more than one power supply pin is nothing unusual for a HF OPAmp. It allows to reduce the effect of bond wire inductances. Paralleling two bond wires halves the effective inductance Relaxed

More, it allows the use of individual supply voltage decoupling at each pin. More decoupling caps = better decoupling.

  • I think we were matching up with some other industry triple that had this pinout (possibly an LTC part). At 10V total supply and 16.5mA total quiescent, that 135mW should not be heating up too much, probably oscillating, need schematic to pursue.
