XTR117: DAC16 channel XTR117 or XTR116 signal connections.

Part Number: XTR117

Dear XTR and DAC Team,

Can you help me with the identification of the Iret pin isolation component for the below details.

  • Hello Wasim,

This topic is discussed in detail in the following blog post - Designing Input Isolated 2-Wire Sensor Transmitters (Part 5).

There is also some discussion of input isolation in the next video of the Precision Labs series, both in terms of implementation and theory/justification, around 9:40 - Basic Design Considerations.

The ISO7330 is specifically mentioned, and is a very simple way of implementing this, but there are a few different options depending on your specific needs. TIDA-00189 and TIDA-00167 explore some more complex approaches. It is important that your circuitry requires 4mA or less supply current/Iq in total, otherwise the transmitter output signal will not be able to go down to 4mA. If you need more than 4mA you'll need an isolated power supply, discussed in the TIPL video at 11:23.

    Cheers,

    Jon
