TLV1701: Propagation delay at overdrive 2mV

Part Number: TLV1701
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV3401, TLV3491

Hi Expert,

Could you please let me know the Propagation delay at overdrive=2mV

Thanks

Thanks for your question.  I would like to answer but this is quite challenging to measure.  The TLV1701 can have input offset voltage in the 2mV range.  So trying to predict the propagation delay at such a low overdrive would require zeroing out the offset first.  Propagation delay is also impacted by underdrive voltage, so that would also need to be considered.  Can you share more about your application?  Do you need the extended operating voltage of the TLV1701?  I am asking because some of our lower voltage comparators would probably have faster response times at such low overdrive.

  • Chuck,

    Thank you for your reply.

My customer is considering TLV1701 and TLV3401.

    TLV1701

    Propagation delay = 500nsec @overdrive=100mV

    TLV3401

    Propagation delay=300usec @overdrive=2mV

    Propagation delay=30usec @overdrive=50mV

    Propagation delay=30usec @overdrive=100mV

Customer usecase for overdrive is 2mV.

    Which device is higher response?

    Thanks

    Muk

  • The TLV3491 is a very low power (560nA) comparator and thus is much slower than the TLV1701 (55uA).

If faster response is required, they should use the TLV1701.  The TLV3401 is best used in very low power applications.

  • OK! Thanks!
