OPA2205: Preamplifier for ADS1299

Part Number: OPA2205
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1299, THP210, OPA1637

Hello

The ADS1299 on my board is working nice for ECG and EMG Signal

For the EEG signal I need preamplifier. From the preamp to the board it's about 15cm in a shilded cable (15polbut  just one shild)

I like to test some  preamp. A chooper amp or a "normal opamp".

I prefer a symtric input and a symetric output like the PGA Amp in the ads1299

Can you recommend one to me?

regards

Stefan

  • Hello Stephan,

Based on the schematic you show above you are looking for a fully differential operational amplifier (FDA). We have two FDA products in the Precision Amplifier line up, the THP210 and the OPA1637. The latter is slated for audio applications, but is worth consideration.

Where I see a potential issue with the THP210 and OPA1637 is the low supply voltage of 5 V. They tend to be used with higher supply voltages. They will work perfectly well with a 5 V supply, but the input common-mode voltage is a volt from each supply rail is 1 V and that might be a problem. The differential input voltage would have to be limited to 1 V to 4 V, when using a 5 V supply. You show the circuit requiring a 0 to 5 V output. If your application can accommodate this less wide differential input voltage range then these op amps may do what you need.

TI's High-Speed Amplifiers division includes many more FDA products. They may have one that comes closer to providing what your application requires. We do not support those products from Precision Amplifiers so we are not as familiar with those products so I can't really recommend one.

Have a look at the TI's full line so FDA products:

If something looks of particular interest to you for your application the High-Speed Amplifiers e2e team should be able to assist you.
