OPA340: PSPICE for TI taking long to run in single supply

Part Number: OPA340
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Hello TI,

I am interested in using OPA340. It works well in TINA-TI in a single supply configuration (+5V, 0).  Unfortunately when I load into PSPICE for TI the model takes too long to converge.  I am using the OPA340 Test Circuit in PSPICE for TI.  I changed the Vee supply to ground and updated the positive supply to 5V. Can you please try in PSPICE for TI and resolve?

  • Jason,

The issue you describe is related to the simulation engine used by PSPICE for TI.  Thus, there is nothing application team can do to fix it other than to suggest ways to go around the problem.  One way to try to resolve the issue is to use in your simulation dual +/-5V supplies instead of single 0V/5V, which typically converges much better.  Of course, this is ONLY for simulation  purposes and NOT for actual physical circuit application since the max OPA340 total supply voltage is 5.5V (or +/-2.75V).

  • Hi Jason,

then why not staying in TINA-TI? The models are optimized for TINA-TI.
