LMP8481: LMP8480 replacement with LMP8481

Part Number: LMP8481
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMP8480

Hello there,

I'm considering to replace LMP8480 with LMP8481 due to the stock. I just want to confirm : if I connects NC pins (pin 6 and 7) into GND (pin 4) with LMP8480, can I directly drop LMP8481 there? Can I expect the same operation in this case?

  • Hello Ella,

Thanks for the question and using the E2E forum!

Yes, you could ground both of the REF pins on the LMP8481 and expect the same operation as the LMP8480. The reason the LMP8481 brings those REF pins out is to give the option of bi-directional current measurements. Those pins are internally grounded on the LMP8480 for uni-directional measurements.

    Per the datasheet:

So externally grounding the 8481 REF pins essentially recreates the 8480.
