INA186-Q1: Ref pin clarifications

Part Number: INA186-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA186, INA190

Hi Experts,

Good day.

The datasheet does not specify the input parameters of pin "REF": input current vs. applied voltage.

Driving pin "REF": requirements to the driving circuit? As well as dependancy of the circuit current consumption from the voltage at pin "REF".

Thank you for your guidance.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hey Archie,

The output of the INA186 is a difference amplifier as shown in Figure 31 of datasheet. The feedback resistor (and resistor from non-inverting terminal of intern op amp) are 1MΩ (±20% over process technology variation). Here is some yet-to-be-released data showing the measured supply, ground, and REF current for when the INA190 (same architecture as INA186) is both enabled and disabled using its ENABLE pin (not available for SC70 and SOT23 packages).

The INA190 was powered with V+ = 1.8V supply and so the REF at mid-supply was 0.9V. Here is the test schematic.Overall, the required current to drive REF pin will never exceed several uA.

    Sincerely,

    Peter
