XTR116: Difference between XTR116U vs. XTR116UA

Hi Amps,

What is the difference between XTR116U and XTR116UA?
I did look at the datasheet and all of the electrical characteristics seems to be same, even the packaging info seems to be the same?

Hi Kris,

The XTR116U has slightly better max offset and voltage accuracy specs (both room temp and drift) versus the UA version. See page 2 of the XTR116 datasheet.

Hi Jon, what is the distribution of these values around the nominal for UA? E.g. how likely is it to have values closer to maximum value?

Hi Jones,

for a customer the "individual fate" might also be decisive. In this case the maximum specification is important. And in this regard -according to the table above- the "U" is much better than the "UA".

Hi Jonas,

The typical specs are not a guarantee, it's more an illustration of what you would expect to see from most of the parts and is not a tested spec. For a zero-mean spec like offset that can be positive or negative, the typical spec given is usually +/- 1 sigma. The max/min limits are the actual tested limits.

In the case of the XTR116, the U version is subjected to higher screening than the UA part (tighter max specs). We cannot guarantee the distribution for any given UA part. Thus if a customer application requires the lower offset, they should choose the U part. As Kai said, it's important to go by the max spec in this case because that is the only guaranteed spec.
