LMV358: Input capacitance

Part Number: LMV358
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , LMV324

Hi Team,

May I ask for help? One of our customer consume 6K-7K of your LMV358AIDR (SOIC-8 package) annually. However, we are out of stock on that part so they are looking at the non-A suffix version, the LMV358ID/IDR/IDRG4/etc.

A critical parameter for them is the input capacitance. The A-suffix part's spec sheet lists its input capacitance as 1.5pF differential and 5pF common mode. However, we cannot find the spec for input capacitance on the non-A suffix part's spec sheet. Therefore we do not know if they can substitute the non-A version in this application.

Can you please provide the specification for the non-A version's input capacitance, like you do for the A-suffix version? Thank you so much.

Kind regards,
Gerald

  • Gerald,

I do not have LMV358ID data , but I do have LMV358Q1 sample data*. LMV358I should be fairly close to this LMV358Q1 table. Even if LMV358I is a little higher, it's still less than LMV358A

*Sample data may or may not represent typical performance for LMV358Q or LMV358I.

      CH1 CH2
    CIN- 1.5 pF 1.4 pF
    CIN+ 1.4 pF 1.3 pF
    CIN-IN+ 0.1 pF 0.1 pF
  • Hi Ron,

Just to clarify: Are you saying that the non-A suffix part should have LESS input capacitance than the A-suffix part? That's how we interpret this quote from their response: "Even if LMV358I is a little higher, it's still less than LMV358A." Please confirm we should be able to reasonably expect the same or lower input capacitance from the non-A suffix versions. If that's true, it is excellent news and we can substitute the non-A versions and accept this solution. Waiting to hear back from you. Thank you so much.

    Kind regards,
    Gerald

  • Gerald,

It is my expectation that LMV358 non A input capacitance will be same or less than LMV358A.

I just found this sample measurement for LMV324 (non A). I expect LMV358 non A to be the same.

    CIN 2 pF
    CDIFF 0.2 pF

Note: LMV358 (non A has recently implemented PCN) so some samples could be same input capacitance as LMV358A.
