LMV7239: 3.3V Vcc 4V input.

Part Number: LMV7239

 Dear support,

Quick question on LMV7239.

If the power supply is set to 3.3V, can the input go up to 4V if there is a series resistor of 1kOhms? In the datasheet we can read that the input current can go up to 10mA:

Does LMV7239 work fine in this condition?

Thanks and best regards,

Juan.

Thanks for posting your question.  This is always a tough one to answer.  You are correct that limiting the input current with a 1k resistor will keep the current less than 10mA, so according to our Abs Max table, the device will not be damaged.  It is also very likely that the device continues to operate properly with the output being in the correct output state.  However, because the datasheet EC table only warrants performance over temperature from V- to V+(copied below), we cannot provide a warranty that this will be the case.  If the customer wishes to use the device in this fashion, they must make the decision on their own.  We just don't have enough characterization data under that condition to warranty the output state being correct.
