INA240: any issues operating in saturation

Part Number: INA240

Hello,

In one of our designs, we has originally planned on using a rad-hard INA240-SEP current sense amplifer with 20V/V gain, but ended up purchasing the INA240A4PWR (200V/V gain) due to long lead time issues. Because of this, our is amplifer is now in saturation when our board is sourcing significant amounts of current, which can be for the majority of its operational lifetime. Does TI forsee any long term reliability issues with operating the amplifer in saturation? Our VS in this case is 3.3V.

Thanks,

Adam

  • Adam,

Provided voltages found in the abs max table are not applied to the pins, there should be no issues running the device for an extended period of time in saturation. Keep in mind that like all amps, the device will need some time to recover to the linear region when a proper input is applied.
