To whom it may concern,

I am having a similar communication error with the HP34401-A. The display shows the same error on the screen and is beeping when queried but no valid data is being displayed on the software GUI. I have verified all the adjustable values on the meter match the DMM script the program is using. (9600 baud, no parity, 8bit.) I have also tried the script changes in the attached thread. No help. It has been a while since the last thread was created and I was hoping there is some new information that may be able to help me. Any idea would help. Thanks!

    Hi Joseph,

    On my side, I use a GPIB to USB adaptor and the GPIB script to connect the PC to the HP Multi-meter 34401A. 

    This demonstration board was developed about 10-years ago; however, most users these days use the GPIB. Is it possible to interface MULTI-CAL-SYTEM with the HP34401 using the GPIB interface?  Most Customers in recent development use the GPIB-USB-HS interface to connect the MULTI-CAL to the HP34401 multimeter; the software includes the script for the GPIB.
