THS7316 for SDTV

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS7316, OPA350, OPA360, OPA358, OPA692

Hello,

I am interested in a video amplifier IC which can do SDTV\EDTV\HDTV analog video in form of CVBS\S-video\RGB\YPbPr.

I found THS7316 can do 3 channels which is good but can it deliver SDTV as well as EDTV\HDTV without any problems or loss?

Also, I appreciate it if there is a single channel amplifier with same characteristics available as well.

thanks

  • Hello Hossam,

The THS7316 can also deliver SDTV and EDTV/HDTV:

Unfortunately, we do not have a single channel amplifier for this type of application. Three channel amplifier option is popular in this end equipment due to requiring three inputs/outputs for RGB signals.

    Thank you,

    Sima

  • hello,

thanks for reply. looks like it can deliver sd\ed stuff. but will they suffer from low quality or makes them soft? Is there a version of this where it just buffers and amplifies the video signal without low pass filters or any filters... an IC where I can enable or disable filters by hardware pin, no software... and similar price.

    thanks

  • Hello Hossam,

SDTV applications commonly require a flat passband up to the cutoff frequency of around 10MHz and attenuation near 27MHz. And for HDTV applications, a flat passband up to the cutoff frequency of around 30MHz and attenuation near 74MHz. The THS7316 is more suited towards HDTV, but will pass for SDTV applications. For better performance in both areas, our 4 to 6th channel video amplifiers would be the THS737x and THS736x. Here is a link of our video amplifier portfolio. These family of video amplifiers and the THS7316 do not require software, but do have internal filters with some providing the ability to bypass via input voltage thresholds.

If you are looking for a simpler video amplifier, look at the OPA692, OPA360, OPA350, and OPA358. These are single channel amplifiers at around the bandwidth you would need, and do not include internal filters, ac biasing, and DC restoration/level shift.

    Thank you,
    Sima
