INA233: transients of up to 38 V

Part Number: INA233

Hello,

in the datasheet of the INA233 is clearly written that voltages over 36 V should not be connected/measured by INA233. But absolute maximum for this amplifier is 40 V. Should I expect that this amplifer should survive rarely transients up to 38 V without damage?

Many thanks,
Best regards.

  • Hello Dejan,

Thanks for the question and using the E2E forum.

The difference between to 36V and 40V is that the device is guaranteed to perform to the specifications in the Electrical Characteristics table when Vcm is between 0V and 36V. The 40V is the Absolute Maximum and stressing the device beyond this level could cause permanent damage.

All of that being said, the device will survive transients up to your 38V without damage, it just won't perform to data sheet specifications between 36V and 38V.

Pleas let us know if you have any other questions.

    Louis
