LMP8601: PSpice Model Not Matching Datasheet

Part Number: LMP8601

Hi team,

I downloaded the PSpice model for the LMP8601 and the pinout does not match the datasheet. Below is what I'm seeing in PSpice (left) and the datasheet (right). I annotated a snip w/ what I assume are the correct DS pin correlations on the Spice model.

Are these associations correct? Is this a known issue with the Spice model?

Thanks,

Jacob

  • Hey Jacob,

Many SPICE models are made with pin numbers that do not correlate to the actual device pin number. This is especially true when one device can come in various packages and/or pinouts, but only one SPICE model is needed because functionally the die is the same.

Looking through various models in our libraries I see several cases of this and for most models, the model pin number is not actually displayed with the model symbol as it is for the LMP8601 thus adding to the confusion. Overall, the SPICE pin numbers do not have to correspond to the actual device pin numbers, of course only the pin names must correspond.

If desired, it is possible to turn off displaying the SPICE pin numbers by modifying the models .olb.

    Sincerely,

    Peter

  • Hi Peter,

Thanks for the guidance. What about the incorrect pin labelling?

The spice model has an "RF" pin and "IN2", both of which are not on the datasheet. By elimination of pins, it makes sense they would be A1 and A2 respectively, but it is not clear.

    Any thoughts there?

    Thanks,

    Jacob

  • Hey Jacob,

Yes I agree that pin names are not clear, but your deduction is correct because A1 connects to internal 100kΩ (Rf) and A2 connects to second stage amplifier (K2) input. I will put this in our queue to correct.

    Best,

    Peter

  • Awesome. Thanks Peter!
